Salty housings are accepting pre-orders for their housing for the RED Komodo digital cinema cameras. Machined from aluminum, it has a depth limit of 20m (60ft), is designed to be used with the Atomos Shinobi, and has a port fitting sized at 105mm. This does prevent the use of wide cinema lenses. Salty offers the option of custom paint jobs!

The Salty housing for the RED Komodo will ship in September, priced at AUS $4,500.

Camera Configuration

Our RED® KOMODO™ housing is designed to work with:

• RED KOMODO Camera
• 2x Canon BP-975 Batteries (or smaller)
• Atomos Shinobi with NP-F770 Battery (with on/off control)

You can fit similar size monitors to the Shinobi inside the housing, however you will sacrifice the monitor on/off control capabilities.

The housing has full physical control of the camera, including

Construction

CNC machined from a single piece of billet aluminium then anodised and painted.

All buttons and hardware are 316 stainless steel, providing superior corrosion resistance.

The housing comes standard with two Vans ODI side handles included.

Paint

Our housings are painted in a highly durable two-pack paint. The paint not only provides additional corrosion protection to your housing, but also provides an opportunity to customize the look of your housing.

You get to choose your color(s)! And the options are almost endless.

Ports

The KOMODO housing comes with our ‘STANDARD’ port system, which is compatible with lenses up to 105mm diameter.

The KOMODO housing does not allow fitment of larger CINE lenses due to the compact size of the housing.

SALTY DSMC2 housing owners note: all your current ports for EF lenses will work with the KOMODO when coupled with a RF to EF adapter.

The front element in our ports is replaceable in less than 30 seconds by simply unscrewing the locking ring and dropping in a replacement acrylic screen we offer for purchase. So no more spending hours buffing scratched ports!
