UnderwaterPhotography.com’s 2004 Contest Results

UnderwaterPhotography.com has announced the winners of its annual photo contest. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded in nine categories and for best portfolio.

Wetpixel member Ron Lagerlof's POTW winning photo of a mandarin goby won a gold medal. Obviously, there were other Wetpixel folk in the winning list as well. Congratulations!

Fantasea Line FD-70 Waterproof Housing

Fantasea has announced their affordable FD-70 housing for the Nikon D70 digital SLR. The suggested retail price of the FD-70 is $999 USD, which includes a standard port for a 18-70 mm zoom lens (we're not sure whether it is a flat port or a dome port) and pre-paid flood insurance policy from D.E.P.P. for one year.

Nexus Nikon D2X Housing Photos

Wetpixel Review of the Aquatica Kodak Housing

I've just posted the review of the Aquatica housing for the Kodak ProSLRn/14n along with extensive image samples and 100% crops. I made two dives in cold water at the Coronado Islands just south of San Diego in order to evaluate the setup in challenging conditions. In the right hands, and accounting for the camera and housing quirks, the system is capable of producing stunning 4,500 x 3,000 pixel full frame underwater images. Aquatica took a bold step by developing a housing for this camera without already having a large user base of camera owners and they deserve kudos for it.
