Notable in this year’s contest is the number of underwater and marine reacted images placed in the rankings, the overall winner being an underwater image and our fellow contributor Alex’s well-deserved win of the Natural Artistry category. The 2021 Wildlife Photographer of the Year contest is announcing its results live in an online ceremony from the Natural History Museum, London. Congratulations to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year and the Underwater Category Winner, Lauren Ballesta with his picture of spawning grouper from Fakarava, French Polynesia, and to Natural Artistry Category Winner, Alex Mustard.
The 2021 Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY) contest is open for entries. The competition has an Underwater category, and, new for 2021 are categories entitled Natural Artistry, Wetlands - The Bigger Picture and Oceans - The Bigger Picture. The later two are designed to attract images that highlight the issues facing these environments. The deadline for entries is 10 December 2020, and the contest’s rules are here.
