Go Ask Erin Live Event Announced
The team at Go Ask Erin has announced their March Madness series of free live events about all things post-processing. They will host a show on Friday 12 March at 11:00 am and again at 6:00 pm PST, 12 March entitled “PHOTOSHOP FEAR ABATEMENT.” Registration is required, and it should be stressed that these talks are the gold standard for improving your post-processing!

Adobe updates Photoshop CC
Adobe has released a significant update to Photoshop CC. The latest version features the “Select Subject” funtionality that was trailed earlier in a Photoshop “Sneak Peak.” By using Adobe’s Sensei AI technology, this automatically selects the prominent subjects in an image.

Adobe previews new Photoshop features
Adobe frequently releases a few “Sneak Peaks” of new technology that will be incorporated into future version of their Creative Cloud apps. In this instance, they have posted video of a Curvature Pen Tool that will be featured in Photoshop CC. This makes “path creation easier and more intuitive in Photoshop CC by enabling you to create paths more quickly and precisely.” Adobe add that this is one of many new features coming to Photoshop CC during 2017.

YouTube Channel tutvid has posted 4 tutorials with over 4 hours of in-depth details about 30 techniques within Photoshop that are useful to photographers. Entitled “30 Techniques Every Photographer/Retoucher Needs to Know!” the mini course is free to view.

Jesús Ramirez of The Photoshop Training Channel has released a very detailed video tutorial covering three methods of sharpening in Photoshop, using Photoshop. He covers High Pass sharpening, the Smart Sharpen Filter and sharpening in the Camera Raw Filter.

1,000 images combined to create one underwater photograph
Photographer Catharine Nelson’s digitally manipulated underwater photograph, Submerged Number 1, took two months and 1,000 images to make. Swirling stalks of lily pads, fish and the surface backdrop were painstakingly composited together to create this final image. The subject of the image is a backyard pond in Ghent, Belgium where Nelson lives.

Tutorials available for Photoshop 2015.1 release
Adobe Creative Cloud subscribers that update their copies of Photoshop to the new 2015.1 version released today will notice a significant change in how the app looks. By default, it now opens with a new start workspace. In addition, opening a new file will now open the recent files workspace. 2015.1 also offers the option of customizing the toolbar by removing tools (and their shortcuts) that are used infrequently.

Photoshop celebrates 25 years of digital manipulation
Photoshop celebrates its 25 year anniversary today. The software, originally called Display, was invented in 1987 by Thomas Knoll who then attempted to monetise it. Photoshop has since been released in 18 versions, and its name is now used a verb to describe any image that has been edited (“photoshopped”).
