NOAA has proposed that the oceanic whitetip shark (Carcharhinus longimanus) be offered protection by being listed as a “threatened species”. The proposal is currently open for public consultation, with comments being solicited electronically via the Federal Register announcement. The deadline for comments is 29 March 2017. We have a few spaces available for the Wetpixel Oceanic Sharks trip. Reports from our operators on Cat Island, Epic Diving, are saying that there are numerous oceanic whitetips (Carcharhinus longimanus) around and interacting with their groups at the moment. Wetpixel will be visiting Cat Island, Bahamas in 2015 to photograph, film and interact with the amazing oceanic whitetip sharks (Carcharhinus longimanus) that are in the area during May and April.
