Many topside photographers assume that the dome’s function is simply to provide a waterproof port and tend to be unaware of the fact that it also acts as a critical component in an underwater optical system. Ikelite is shipping their DC4 6-inch dome port suitable for use with their compact camera housings. Constructed of acrylic, the dome replaces the standard flat port and allows for the full FOV of the camera’s lens. As it avoids the “double water line” that is created with wet lenses, it is suitable for creating over-under images.
Ikelite is shipping their 8-inch dome port for the DLM port attachment system. Constructed from injection molded acrylic, the port is designed to be lighter than comparable size glass ports, but to offer similar optical performance.
