Live Reports: Wetpixel/Under the Jungle Cenote Workshop

Day 2

We continue our quest to create to create beautiful images in Mexico’s amazing and beautiful underwater cenotes. Building on their experience yesterday, we headed over to Cenote Ponderosa to shoot its amazing sun rays.

In common with all the dives, Under the Jungle’s Natalie Gibb provided a thorough briefing about the site and set out the procedures that were planned to ensure that we were safe and in the best position possible to get images.

Cenote photography guru Tom St George then went on to give a thorough run down of the camera setting options and possible creative opportunities. The participants are all diving 1:1 with a guide/model, so there is lots of flexibility to allow for different interests.

After dive one, we headed on over to Under the Jungle’s home cenote; Tajma Ha. This is a beautiful cenote offering a variety on wonderful photographic opportunities, including:

“Points of Light”

“Esmerelda”

“Sugar Bowl”

As you can see, each of these have different and very beautiful options.

Tom, Natalie and Adam provided key information to ensure that the group got the best from these iconic scenes.

It was wonderful to see the group adapting to these new environment under Natalie, Tom and the UTJ team’s expertise. The diving operations were super smooth, with everyone managing to have plenty of time to exploit the photographic potential.

Our evening entertainment was a discussion about ambient light photography in the cenotes with Tom and Adam, followed by dinner and an image feedback session.
