Wetpixel Ultimate Indonesia 2012

The MSY Damai II

Wetpixel is excited to return to Indonesia in late 2012. We are running 3 underwater photography / diving expeditions aboard the MSY Damai II, one of the largest and most-comfortable liveaboard dive vessels in Indonesia. The Damai II is 40 meters long and is 9 meters wide at its widest point. Every passenger gets his/her own camera table space and individual dive station, and all cabins feature private showers and separate heads.

To prevent overcrowded dive sites, we will be taking 8-10 divers plus trip leader.

Trip 1: Ambon to Kaimana, Indonesia (Bird’s Head Peninsula)

Nov 25 - Dec 07, 2012 (12 nights)
Trip leader: Eric Cheng

We will start in the mucky slopes of Ambon, Indonesia, where we’ll explore all things weird and strange. Ambon is famous for its critters, and after staring at muck for a few minutes, you’ll see it come alive with some of the most bizarre animals you’ve ever seen. From Ambon, we’ll make our way slowly to Kaimana, in the heard of the Bird’s Head Peninsula of western New Guinea, just south of Raja Ampat. The reefs of the Fakfak/Kaimana area are some of the most healthy we’ve seen. The trip ends in Kaimana.

From Kaimana, we’ll travel to Raja Ampat, a legendary dive area that needs no introduction. Raja Ampat is a fantastic blend of healthy reefs, interesting critters, and beautiful above-water topography. The trip ends in Sorong, Indonesia.
