I received an e-mail from Stephen Frink (Seacam USA) today about a new, more powerful wet diopter from Seacam, called the Wet Two.  With his permission, I reprint his message, below:

Dear Eric - For your information, Harald just introduced a second, more powerful wet diopter.  I haven’t used it on a shoot yet, but it seems very promising.  The pool tests below were done at F-4, available light.  So, clearly depth of field will be much improved when working at F-22 as per norm for macro.  It is cosmetically identical to the first version, but greater magnification.

With this introduction, Seacam is now offering 2 diopters:  Wet One and Wet Two.  I have no way to precisely estimate degree of magnification, but based on test images am assuming they will allow 1:1.3 and 1:1.7 respectively.  While I haven’t used Wet Two on a real shoot in the ocean yet, based on the pool tests the Wet Two is very promising.  I’ll take them both with me to PNG next month and will report more at that time.
