DivePhotoGuide is hosting a digital Nikonos industry design challenge:
“Produce an adapter or modify a camera to work with existing Nikons lenses, particularly the 15mm or Nikonos RS wide angle lenses, or build a digital back for existing Nikonos bodies.”
As a prize for any manufacturer who develops a working prototype, DPG will offer free advertising and help marketing the product, should the prototype become a real product. The deadline for the contest is December 31, 2009.

Comment(s):The prize is so small in value who would spend the type of money it costs to develop such a camera for it?
Posted by divegypsy on 07/03 at 10:49 PMMultiply the number of nikonos and nikonos RS’s sitting around not being used as well as having free advertising and marketing and the price is huge!!!! Obviously anyone who doesn’t advertise or market products doesn’t realize how much it all costs and thereby doesn’t see the value.Let’s go developers I’m ready to spend some
money! Good Luck and all the best.:-))Posted by msdeedee on 07/04 at 09:29 AMYou can have a digital back on a Nikonos 5 or even an RS and it still lacks so many of the things we now take for granted and utilize in a modern DSLR it would be economically stillborn. And besides, the manufacturers DONT want you to get more years of use with your older cameras and lenses, they want you to feel you have to buy new lenses and new cameras to get quality imaging.
Posted by divegypsy on 07/04 at 07:51 PMI am all for it, the nikonos rs is a classic and just gathering dust now, develop a digital add on for it and sign me up.
