SALVO #3443

October 23, 2008 - 11:15 AM

Carey Mearns of Salvo introduced a 200W HMI custom video light originally intended for a Norwegian film production company. The light is adjustable down to 125W at low power with a burn time of 120 minutes, or 70 minutes at full power using a Lithium-Polymer battery pack (recharges in 8-9 hours from total discharge), and has a color temperature of 5600K. The light head uses a 4.5” reflector to provide an 85 degree beam, and the bulb is user-replaceable with the removal of a few screws. At $6500 a piece, the package is not inexpensive, but will certainly satisfy all but the most extreme lighting requirements.

Salvo has also revised the design of their battery packs, entirely sealing the battery cells to prevent destruction in the case of a cable flood or missing o-ring. Additionally, the battery connectors can be rotated 180 degrees into ‘safe’ mode, ensuring that the video lights can not be turned on accidentally during travel. Salvo rounds out the product line with a series of 2W, 3W, and new 9W LED narrow beam dive lights.

In the video, Joel Clark talks about the Salvo 50, 35, and 21 watt HID lights and their new 200 watt HMI lights (prototype stage). 200 watt HMIs!
