Equinox is a manufacturer of inexpensive underwater housings that can be customized for all standard HD camcorders. In the past, they’ve displayed the HD8 and HD10 underwater housings for the Sony FX7 and V1 and a range of Sony, Canon, and Panasonic video cameras, respectively. This year, Epoque has introduced the smaller HD6 housing for all compact Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Hitachi, Samsung, and JVC HD camcorders that retails at a low $949 USD.
With a 250ft depth rating, the HD6 features five manual controls (power, record, zoom, photo, memory) and a wide-angle lens port and external color correction filter. Equinox housings are supplied with a thee-year warranty, and in the case that a user wishes to upgrade, an arrangement to replace/retrofit the housing for one-third of the new market cost. It’s exciting to see more competitive manufacturers providing excellent incentives to use their products.
Available accessories include a new HD6 and Pro6 LCD Monitor Backplate with a 2.5” NTSC/PAL 4:3 TFT LCD, power control, and battery that will run the display for 80 minutes.
Shawn Heinrichs takes us on a tour of Equinox’s booth by interviewing TJ Mansfield, who talks about the Equinox EX1/HVX200 video housing, HD6 video housing, and SD video housing.
