Canon has a new camera the EOS 5D. Has a 12.8 MP CMOS, 3 fps and up to 60 consecutive shots. Its not as much of a financial nightmare as a EOS 1Ds but you still will need to take out a second mortgage.

Any reviews? Anybody lined up to test underwater? How long does it usually take before they make housings for cameras? This is good for me because the 12.8 CMOS will be in something more reasonable in the near future.

Usually ~6 months before housings start showing up.

Michael Reichmann of Luminous Landscape has a "first impression" after using a pre-production 5D on a two week trip. This might help hold you over till the reviews come in. Sounds like a promissing camera especially for U/W.
