I am having a problem with the D70 too!

The exposure meter seems to have a mind of its own and seems to scroll through different exposures pretty much randomly. The camera still works fine in manual so it is of little consequence to shooting, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or knows a solution.

Hi Alex

Sounds like it might need a reboot. Have you tried stripping out all batteries and shorting the main battery contacts?

does the d70 have an exposure bracking mode?

Camera really went wrong underwater - stopped being able to write to card. Tried reformating - and it still wouldn't work. Damn thing. Meant I had to get out of the water and change lenses on the D2X. Least I was only in stingray depths.

I think that it may be a failure of the “Light Metering FPC” http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp...essage=14808391 . It happened to my D70 about 3 weeks ago while I was on a Pop Photo Trek. The only way that the camera would work was by shooting Manual. I called Nikon and and they are repairng it at no cost to me. The camera is 16 months old.

Thanks for the advice. Certainly sounds a likely explanation. Its now a lot worse and the while the camera was usable on manual before it is now really having issues. Alex
