Hi,

Today i got a woody's diopter, and i was wondering if anyone have any idea how to secure it when it's not being used. Any ideas ?

hi Oren

I am not exactly sure but i believe the Woody's is a sleeve that fits on the front of your macro port?

Would it be possible to drill a hole near the base and thread some fishing line through it and then secure the other end to your strobe arm? It would be best to use something like small hooks that tuck into themselves (can be found at the fishing store) as opposed to knots

Tehre is a line attached to it... but i don't like things floating around me when i take photos. I'm looking for a way to secure it so it wont move...

Ummm, securing it to the strobe arm might be a good idea afterall. It means that when i'm not taking photos i need to keep the diopter on the lens, and take it off when i'm not useing it. I was thinking thinking about leaving it off most of the time, and just putting it on when i actually need it. Your way sounds safer :-)

I got another question - when taking the diopter off the port... how careful should i be ? Ikelite's port mount doesn't look too strong...

So it doesn't hang and drag, I hoist it over my Titan handle and then the string is held against my handle with my pinky finger. It actually fits nicely this way between the camera housing and handle. Pulling it off is no big deal. Just work one edge until you break the vacuum effect and it pops right off. Don't try to "gorilla remove it". Just work an edge.

This may be housing specific, but I can slide mine inbetween the left hand ULCS handle and housing. Fits snug and doesn't get in the way. The laynard is attached to the fix light arm.

I'd let mine float around initially but then it would invaribly float in front of the lens port at the wrong moment. FWIW
