Not so fast James. Dell has pulled a fast one. As they do quite often, they advertise a coupon code, then put a "percentage off" promotion on the same item on the website (in this case 10%). The coupon fine print says "not compatible with "percentage off" offers and there is no way to remove the 10% off on the site.

And, that retail price seems high when compared to B&H considering it is just a body. So they inflated the retail and threw a curve ball on the discount. Damn those guys are good.

Actually, the retail price of $1499 is the MSRP. What I want to know is how Circuit City can advertise an MSRP of $1599 marked down to $1519 and get away with it!

I'd give Dell the benefit of the doubt on this and say they just hit thei mazimum of 200 units sold. However, this exact same thing has happened to me far too often for me to cut them any slack.

Actually, the retail price of $1499 is MAP (Minimum Advertised Price), the MSRP is $2200. Circuit City is well within the Canon pricing structure for this item. MAP pricing is setup to maintain a level playing field. If you sell lower than MAP then you lose Co-Op advertising dollars from the manufacturer. The Dell price is hundreds of dollars below dealer net price so there has to be a catch.

Well my order went thru at that price. Didn't see the 200 uses part.... it's so good to be elite. I've often seen cool stuff on Dell at near or below invoice. They probably have a bulk deal somewhere. Sometimes they take months to deliver. But this is a camera for a friend in Europe so he can wait.
I believe the XT coupon 20% off Coupon $Z3LQ3F?65T80$ - $ 60 off coupon 5Z5WPTNN385Z3Q = $699.99 is still available but act quickly.

You lucky devil. Us folks in the lower non-elite classes will just have to pay full price! biggrin.gif

Dell can produce some great deals. They can be slow, but check it out- got Canon 10-22 Zoom for $589- yup -combined a couple of coupons. (Also used thier cc, bought through fatwallet.com , a buyers webste. I have bought the Canon 17-85 zoom there as well, plus about 4 computers. They have greatly expanded thier marketing-product base. But be prepared to wait on any camera item that does not immediatly confirm shipment. Both lenses took weeks, but I could have canceled anytime, and was sent updates as to status.

Obviously, the correct strategy is to park oneself directly infront of the computer screen and refresh the coupon page at one minute intervals. That way you can be assured of being in the first 150 people to order. Dell is selling a few at very low prices in the hopes that a lot of people will order more expensive stuff.

The 25% 20D is back. Use coupon L?FTX4TML0FLSZ.... only 100 of them so hurry!
