I have been calling camera stores about a wireless remote control (for on land) for th D2X. Nobody seems to know. Anybody out there knows?

As far as I know, there are two options, one is the Nikon WT-2A. With this you can fully control the D2x using a computer with Nikon Capture 4.2 or later.
Another option is the Nikon ML-3, which is a two-channel infared remote for operating Nikon motor-driven cameras at distances up to 26' (7.9 m). Features include automatic triggering, delayed 3 sec. shutter release & either single shot or continuous shooting switchable from the remote position.

I have the ML-3 which work pretty well, as long as the infrared receiver is in line of sight of the remote. I don't thinkthere is a cable release option for D2X.
The remote has only 2 chanels A and B so hopefully there aren't too many other people using the same kind of controller nearby

Thanks for the info on the MC30. I asked a Nikon dealer about cable release and they told me to get the infrared one

Oh welll, at least it was not that much more expensive!
