The new Nexus D70s multi-finder housing come with two pickup diopter units. One magnifier & One pickup. You have the choice to use witch unit you want.
Pickup unit have a 0.7 magnification and you can see easy all four corners of the frame. The magnifier unit have a 1.2 magnification. The center off the image is expand and this help for easy focus adjusting with macro photos.
In addition Nexus have put a diopter adjustment knob. You have the possibility to adjust the diopters unterwater. Nice & Inovative idea and sure every other housing builder can do it (VizArt are you read this?)

But what they have done (and it is not writen i any Nexus webpage) is that they have replace the AE-AF lever with the diopter lever???!!!

Not so good!!!!

Becauce I have no need off the diopter lever any longer (I have adjust everything)
I was thinking to replace this lever with a AE-AF lever. Ny dealer will send me a AE-AF lever set.
Like you see on the pictures it is on the same place and the levers have the same diameter

What i will do is

1. loosen the HEX screw
2. pull out the shaft
3. replace the "E-clip"
take out the old lever insert "AE AF" lever with the opposite process of
replacement. Rub little grease on the small O-rings on the shaft. Test the housing for leakage.

Do I Dare?

P.S. Off cource I can send my housing back for modification, no problem , costs Zero but i think that this is a easy job to do and I must learn to modily housings

Depending on your ability this should not be hard to do. Removing and installing the clip will be the hardest part.

Hi!

As long as you don't scratch the inner surface of the bearing and keep the o-rings intact this should work well. Don't grease too much. If the greasing is more than a thin film, water will be able to penetrate. Too much grease is a common cause for flooding.

Replacing the lever with an original spare part (of the same diameter) should be ok. Check the diameter with a caliper to be sure.

I presume that this is the viewfinder dioptre. I only imagine this would needed to be adjusted underwater if the housing was being used by several people (without perscription masks) with different eyesight during a dive. Doesn't seem very useful.

Or is this dioptre for magnification of the centre nagnification of the viewfinder?

Yes Alex thats correct. Realy not very useful for me. But the pic up lenses are very very useful.

I have see that many D2X housings have a viewfinder dioptrer lever. Nexus have one Aquatica to. I dont think that you need it if you dot share with others your camera underwater

Hi Lambis, the Aquatica housing does not have a correction eye piece lever like you suggest, what you probably saw was the meter access knob which is in line with the eye piece corrector but further up front. the need for one has simply not arrised from our users demand, beside if you had a D2x would you loan it to somebody? biggrin.gif

I don't loan my d70 to anybody !!
If I had a D2X I will have to pay for a bodyguard to :-)

No Jean I whant to say that the solution that nexus have with multi magnifiers is a good one and easy to adopt , and make better, from other manucatures like Aquatica.
The best will be if you can have 2 lite wet magnifiers
One for Makro & One for WA
