Hi All;

I just got my D70 and Ikelite housing, and wondering if anyone can direct me to/ post some tips to get me going.

I have the standard 18-70mm lens and corresponding Ikelite dome port.

I have not taken it in the water yet, just a few more days...

A few observations..

The lens clamp / gear mechanism works, but not that smoothly - is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? I have used one rubber strip inside the clamp, and the plastic gear thing fits into the clamp grooves well enough - it seems though that the teeth of the plastic gear thing don't mesh that great with the teeth on the wheel..

I tried to take a few fotos on land with the camera in the housing and the port and +4 close-up filter - the camera just cant focus... is this normal on land and will correct itself underwater?

---------

I also have the Ikelite DS125 with sync cord - is this good enough or will I also want the EV controller? And what about the TTL upgrade for this housing - is that likely any time soon?

Any and all guidance is most heartily welcome!

best regards,

Hello,
I had problems also with the clamps, in my case I didn't used the rubber strips at all and it was still not fit, the diameter was too big, I needed to polish it until its was small enough, I assume that you have different part then me since you uses the strip.
The lens with the +4 diopter can focus only from really small distance, with the dome on land its too close :? , under water its work fine.
There was a all thread here about the manual controller and the majority where said that the 4 options in the strobe itself is enough.
