I have ordered a Fuji S2 pro. Fuji has run out of this model in Europe.
My supplier has told me that is going to be easier buying the S3 than S2.
I was interested in S2 because of the TTL mode. But now i have to decide going to S3 or wait for the production of the old S2.
I know that there is no housing yet for the S3, but i do not mind waiting for it. I want to do the right choice.
So what do you think that is more advisable for underwater photograhy? S2 or S3?
Is important the TTL mode for macro photos?
Thank you in advanced and greetings from Spain.

If you wait for an S3pro, you will probably be waiting until August or September, then another 3 months or so to get a housing.
What are you going to do in the meantime, go diving without a camera? (YEAH, RIGHT!)

Is it possible at all? Even if is, its looks more seriously then diving solo to 70 meters with Nitrox 36%

OK, have more time to post now...
From all that I have seen, the S3 will not be available for some time. I don't feel that the S2 is discontinued - I just think your dealer is having trouble getting some so he is telling you something, anything...
The pros of the S2 are: ttl, great JPEGs out of the camera, and good resolution in RAW.
The pros of the S3 (conjecture) are higher dynamic range than any other DSLR, good jpegs, and good resolution in RAW.
It's a shame that the S3 won't have TTL anymore. I have a feeling that Fuji's superCCD SR does not have the right properties.
So - your question "wait or not?" Well...that is a personal choice up to you.
FWIW, used S2pros can be had for $1,500 in the US right now.

Hi, JAmes!
"I have a feeling that Fuji's superCCD SR does not have the right properties" Can you clarify what you mean by this?

Hi Eric,
I think the SuperCCD on the S2 had just the right reflectivity that Fuji could use the TTL sensors in the N80 body and it works like a charm.
I have a feeling theirn new SuperCCD SR does not have this reflectivity.

James,
So it looks like there is nothing startlingly new in the S3 to make me want to run out and upgrade from my S2?
I think I'm right in saying that the CCD resolution is the same on both, and that the S3 adds the advantage of no more CR123's, but loses TTL capability?

Well no, or sort of...
The S3 sensor has "two sets" of 6 megapixel sensors on it. They are laid out in a hexagonal close packed structure.
This camera may be able to do what no other DSLR does - easily capture beautiful high-contrast shots with the sunrays in the frame. We'll just have to wait and see.
But we can kiss the convenience of TTL goodbye - at least until someone (cough cough) comes up witha DTTL converter.
Cheers
