I WOULD LIKE TO SWITCH FROM MY AQUATICA 90 FILM HOUSING TO A HOUSING FOR MY NIKON D100. i HAVE PORTS: 8" DOME, FLAT PORT FOR 60MM, AND EXTENSION RING FOR 105 NIKON. I USE 2 IKELITE 100A STROBES WITH A DUAL SYNCH CORD. (CIRCUITRY WAS UPDATED WHEN I RAN THESE ON A LIGHT & MOTION TETRA 5000 FOR THE COOLPIX 5000). IN ORDER TO KEEP COST DOWN A LITTLE BIT, I HAVE LOOKED AT THE AQUATICA HOUSING AND THE LIGHT & MOTION TITAN SO I CAN USE MY AQUATICA PORTS. iF i GO WITH L&M I PROBABLY CAN USE THE 100A'S SINCE THE ROC CONTROL WILL ADJUST FLASH OUTPUT MANUALLY. IF I GO WITH AQUATICA I DON'T THINK I CAN USE MY STROBES, I THINK I WOULD HAVE TO BUY 2 DS-125'S OR?, A MANUAL CONTROLLER AND A TTL SLAVE (DO THESE REALLY WORK?). IF YOU CAN OFFER ANY ADVICE CONSIDERING COST, RELIABILITY AND GENERAL DIRECTION HERE PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I DON'T WANT TO MAKE THE WRONG CHOICE. I THINK I'VE THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING

THANKS!!!

If you have had the digital update on the SS100's then you can use them with the D100. I used my SS200's with the Aquatica housing. I did the same swithc over from the A90.

You cannot use the SS100's in TTL, only manual power settings. The manual controller allows 9 or 10 manual strobe settings, but only works with the DS125 or DS50.

The easiest way use your SS100's is to use an Ikelite non-TTL cord or cords.

You can use existing TTL cords, but you have to tape off a couple of contacts.

THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE. IF I USE MY IKELITE 100A STROBES I ONLY HAVE A CHOICE OF 1/2 OR FULL MANUAL POWER, WHICH IS PROBABLY INADEQUATE FOR DIGITAL LIGHTING FINE TUNING...UNLESS I WANT TO BE MOVING THE STROBES BACK AND FORTH-NOT MUCH FUN. iS THERE ANY WAY i CAN GET FRACTIONAL POWER OUT OF THESE STROBES. IF YOU USE THE AQUATICA D100 HOUSING WHAT DO YOU LIKE AND DISLIKE?

THANKS

I use the digital manual controller and TTL slave controller all the time with the D100. They work fine.
COSMOFISH
THANKS FOR THE INPUT ON THE MANUAL CONTROLLER WITH THE TTL SLAVE. iS THERE ANYONE WHO KNOWS A WAY TO GET INCREMENTAL STROBE POWER OUT OF iKE 100a STROBES? hAS ANYONE USED THE TITAN D100 BY L&M?

Why do you have to get a D100? Why don't you get an S2 and an Aquatica housing? Then you can use your 100a's in TTL mode, or manual mode, or whatever mode... You will save literally THOUSANDS of dollars over buying an L & M housing AND new strobes...

Just something to consider.

Cheers

iF i COULD CHANGE MY D100 INTO AN S2 THAT WOULD WORK...SO I HAVE TO WORK AROUND WHAT I ALREADY HAVE, IE D100, 2 100A'S,....I WONDER IF SOMEONE HAS TRIED PUTTING THE NIKON SB800 LAND STROBE IN A HOUSING AND THEN SLAVING A SECONDARY FLASH...THAT WOULD GIVE ME "TRUE" DIGITAL TTL, I COULD PROBABLY USE A MANUAL CONTROLLER ON THAT?

THANKS' COSMOFISH

I would contact Ikelite to see if they can convert your 100s so they can be used in a digital mode with the manual controller. I've heard of them doing it with 200s and the old style 50s.

Don't worry about the lack of TTL with the D100. With the use of LCD review TTL is highly overated.

No, no. We convert sync circuits of older strobes when needed to be compatible with some of new Nikon digital cameras, but can not convert them to to be digital strobes or work with the Manual Controller. We will start shipping the new clear molded D-100 housing this month:

Well it looks like I have 2 choices here if I want to be able to house the
d100 and have incremental manual control of flash output (while being able to use my old Aquatica ports). Eiter get the Aquatica D100 housing with a digital strobe such as the ds125 or a sea&sea ys90 controlled by settings on the strobe or by an ike manual controller on one strobe and a ttl slave on the other....or get a Light&Motion titan that will cost more for the housing and adaptor ring, but will save money on the strobe and controller end.

Does anyone have input on these 2 housings...as for the ike housing, does anyone know how it compares size-wise to the other 2 above?

thanks, COSMOFISH

I was shooting with the aquatica d100 housing but after holding a titan housing I switched. Well worth the extra money. A joy to shoot with, light, compact and the ROC controls are incredible.

Regarding the L&M Titan for the D100, what strobes are you using and are you using the aquatica ports? Have you tried a zoom lens?
