Hello,

does anybody know, how many inches the Ikelite super wide dome for fisheyes has? I mean the radius or diameter of the glass.

would like to use it for split level shots, therefore a big dome would be welcome.

thank you

Julian

Same diameter but mounted closer to the housing............

Thanks Ike,

I don't have the others either. So how many inches is that?
Jolly
OK, Ikelite fisheye dome diameter is top secret. therefore must be very small someone told me (just about 5 inch).

To bad Ikelite does not give the data like the other manufactures do. it's required to calculate possible focus distances.

It's the radius of curvature that you actually need, not the dome's diameter. People just use diameter as a "rough guide" because you can't get a big diameter dome that HAS a small radius of curvature.

What lens are you thinking of putting behind Ike's dome? Perhaps some of the members here have tried it and can help.

Cheers

Thank You James.

I would like to use a Sigma 15mm Fisheye.

As far as I understood, the radius (diameter divided by two, not the housing-port diameter but the diameter of the dome/hemisphere) is often given by manufacture. Aquatica for example gives 8" for the fisheye dome. So the lens should be able to focus 2 times the diameter (or 4 times the radius). Would give a minimum focus distance of 16" with the aquatica dome. But please correct me if I got something wrong.

thank you

Re diameters. Does anyone know the diameter of the INON dome that is used with the INON wide angle lens?
james
Well why didn't you say so Jolly?!?! :-) Yes, the fisheye lens will focus on the image from the Ikelite dome with no problems. I've used the fisheye in the Ike dome as well as the Aquatica dome and it works in both.

Julian, if you are using a cropped dSLR, the 5503 (with shade) will not vignette.

~100mm

Thank you James. smile.gif

Second question is the usefullness of the Ike dome for split level shots. Therefore a big radius would be fine. Do you know the appr. radius of it?

Thank you

Thanks Ryan,

Have a Canon 10D but intend to house a film camera since I have the full fisheye angle of view and can use my Nikonos flash setup.

Thanks for the info.
