I spent the last week of December in Anilao, Philippines. We stayed 5 nights at the Acacia Dive Resort and had a very nice time. The resort manager, Chito, is very hospitable... he's a real character with tons of experience in the dive travel industry. I recommend Anilao to divers regardless of experience, there's so much to offer you'll never get bored there! Here are my trip photos: www.flickr.com/wudai
We liked the diving in Anilao quite a bit. Acacia however was another story. Very mediocre food, and worse service when we were there. The resort was mostly empty and for 5 days the trash in our room for example was never emptied, towels were never there (we schlepped our own from downstairs), the beds were made and that's about all. Every meal was fish, chicken and pork, dinner was mostly redone lunch with a different sauce. The people were quite nice and the dive guides and dive staff were great but the rooms and service were not quite up to par.
