Hey all

Well I hope no ones stuck in Fiji at the moment. Torrential rain, Flooding and missing people.
December 10 started as just another day at work as an electrician. Off to the office to pick up some tools and a big switchboard to be installed in a fast food resturant. Typically... my boss had double booked the day so I'm off by myself without another pair of hands.
Cruising through the suburbs working on the right arm tan on the open window, dreaming about the diving trips coming up in Jan.
Girlfriend and I had planned and payed for a great holiday back in May 08. Flying out to Fiji on the 5th of Jan 09 for 7 nights staying at the Wananavu Resort with 2 tank dives each day with KaViti Divers in the Bligh waters Nth Est Fiji. We kept upgrading the package with the resort during june 08 starting at a budget base package and ending up with what may as well be a honeymoon. Oh who cares..... Its a holiday.. Fly back to Sydney (home) from Fiji for 3 days then off to Cairns, Australia to jump on a livaboard for a week to dive the outer Great Barrier Reef.
Coming back to earth as I arrive at the job, I begin unloading the switchboard from the back of the van. Struggling I drag it out but over balance it as it is almost out. 140kg tips over leaving the van, falling 2ft and landing directly onto the top of my right foot.... Ripping my shoe off my eyes are met with the sight of what looked like 2 golf balls under the skin oooooowwwwwww... + a few other words that im sure you could guess.
Within all the pain my only thought is of the trip and the possible damage inside of it.
Ambulance, Hospital and X-rays I leave on crutches with no broken bones but a possible torn ligament in the foot.
So here I am Jan 12th watching Fiji have some of the worst weather in years with the airports closed, roads cut and people missing in floodwater and landslides, Wondering to myself.. Do things happen for a reason. I've never personally believed in these chance occurances but this has definately made me stop and think.
Oh and the Aus Barrier reef livaboard... Its still booked for the 16th Jan. Foots still a little sore but ill grin and bear it. They have a Tropical Cyclone up there at the moment. Fingers crossed and it should be gone by the end of the week.
We've rebooked Fiji and are heading there in April so long as there are no more hic ups. dancing.gif

I had similar story althought not as drastic and not include body damage.
We use to go to Phuket Thailand during the last week of the year every year since 96. For whatever reason, we went to Hawai instead in the year when tsunami hit South Asia. We woke up in the morning saw it on TV and we had a mix bag of feelings. We skip the following year but went back again the year after. I agree things must happen for a reason, I alway believe we have a secret angel on a shouder.

I'm off to the Red Sea next week. When I was planning the trip, then I run into many opbstacles. For example problems with hotel booking's and flight cancelations etc. In some point I was really thinking are these signs of somekind, that I should not go... scratch.gif But I tought hopefully there will be something extra good to see, that faith is testing my pacience. So at the moment I'm still going and well see what comes out tongue.gif
