Hi everyone,

Continuing to experiment with different media. Here's a Vuvox Collage about a recent trip to Ambon. Click on the video icons for video clips.

There's a video clip included of the newly discovered Maluku frogfish being attacked by a moray eel. It looks like the frogfish turned the tables on the eel, indicating that the frogfish may be toxic or produce some noxious substance. If so, this could be the first documentation of this in a frogfish.

Cheers,

Tony

Wow Tony, a bunch of firsts for me in this post. I wasn't familar with the Collage presentation tool on the web. It's very impressive and you took full advanatge of it. Congrats on a job well done. The people photos are exceptional and the video of the frogfish and the eel is also something special. What really stuck with me was the way you handled the giant frogfish in the green water, those silhouettes are extraordinary. Congrats on a superb effort!

About the tool; it took me a while to figure out that I could control the speed and direction of the flow by placing the mouse over the images and going back and forth, It was still a little clunky. The video portions didn't load fast enough to play at full speed with my broadband. Also a little clunky in spots. It might have been that I was unwilling to wait very long for it to load. I wanted to see what was next! I'll go back and play some more. Thanks for putting this up Tony!
Cheers,
Steve

Tony, it's a nice interface but the videos are really slow loading. Thanks for the report on Laha. Glad to see you had a great time.

Thanks guys. Maybe it's the way I encoded the videos? I played around w/ settings until everything looked good here, realising that it'd probably mean that people without decent net connections would have a difficult time watching the video clips. Had no problems watching the clips in Japan, but we've got fast fiber.

Cheers,

Tony

What a great piece of work Tony!! Had no difficulties what so ever in playing the videos.. Great to see that the little frogfish is still about..what a beauty she is..Bravo on the human elements as well. Recognize a number of the friendly faces.
Diving Laha. was indeed the adventure, the best and the worst of diving..Don't know where I have seen so many different species in such a small area, and yet the enviroment in which they lived, was at times appalling to say the least.

Would I go back?? In a heartbeat.. biggrin.gif

Thanks for sharing this.

Tony,
Totally cool! island.gif good.gif How many beers did the mantis have to pose like that for you?
tonywu
Thanks everyone. It's great to be able to share.

The mantis posed for many more pix. It patrolled its territory along a fixed path, so all I had to do was sit and wait for it to come around. Over 20-30 minutes, it passed directly in front of me 4-5 times.

Cheers,

Tony
