I leave for Malpelo & Cocos in about 2 weeks (and then the Maldives 3 weeks after I return)... First trip is a "me" trip, second trip is w/the family...

Wife almost gave me a heart attack when she suggested I look at upgrading my housing and camera (Nexus & D100) before the Cocos trip blink.gif (something about "trip of a life time" & "and don't expect to ever go back - leaving me w/the kids for two weeks..."

So... any chance I could get a hold of a D200 and a housing in 2 weeks? Are they generally available yet? (if so, pointers to where would be appreciated...)

Also - has anyone shot the D200 w/the Nikon 12-24? I'm looking for a reasonably wide lens for shooting sharks at Cocos (other lens suggestions appreciated...)

Thanks,

- Matt

Hi Matt,

There are several available - but all the manufacturers have long waiting lists and unless you have pre-ordered you are unlikely to be able to get your hands on one.

The Nexus D200 housing is out - and photos taken with it have already been up on the forums here.

i shot shark shots in Cocos with the Nik V and 15mm but wanted something a little more flexible as it was too wide for single shots.

The 12-24 should be a better option but i would think somethin like 17-35 or the 17-55 would be better

I saw that B&H website has the Aquatica housing for the D200 in stock.

Hi Matt,

I would look at Ebay for the body. I bought one 2 weeks ago from Complete Photo USA's ebay store. It was a brand new USA body with warranty, original packaging ect.... and I paid about $50 less than retail. Service was first rate. I went to ebay today and pulled up their store. They're not listing any D200's, but it may be worth a phone call. 866-387-3686

Hope this helps, I'm off to check out that Aquatica housing at B&H.

Hi Matt,

You may want to check with Ryan at Reef Photo & Video, http://reefphotovideo.com/ Ryan had this housing in stock last week when I was by the store. It is very impressive and priced lower than some others of the same quality. If you already have ports and gears this would be the way to go if you can find the camera.

Hi Phil,

That's good news - I'm happy to hear that Reef Photo Video is carrying the Aquatica housing. IMO and IME it can do the job of a Subal housing at a much lower price. I have no affiliation w/ Aquatica other than having evaluated and purchased a few of their housings.

Cheers

My bad, I was talking about the Nexus D-200 housing as Matt already has a Nexus D-100 housing.
