Hi members of WetPixel!

I would like to know if some of the Nikon/Nexus users have used the 10.5mm fisheye lens with the FP-170 port from Nexus!

I see Nexus has a smaller 120mm port for the 10.5mm fisheye, but why use this if some one already have the FP-170?

I personally use the 16mm fisheye with the FP-170 (F100 Housing) but intend to go digital in a near future and can't see if the FP-170 should perform different with the 10.5mm fisheye on a digital dSLR since they both cover 180 degrees.

Best regards from

Hi Kim,

Welcome to Wetpixel. I haven't personally used this combo, but I believe the smaller port is preferred simply because it's smaller. I'm willing to bet the optical performance is about the same, but I could be wrong.

Hopefully we'll hear from some of our Nexus users.

Cheers

We recommend the FP160 Glass Fisheye Port or FP170 Acrylic Ports for this lens, not the 120mm port.

The 120mm port distorts badly.

I use the FP-170 port with the 10.5mm. Works great for me.

Hi again and thank you for the info and for replying to my question! :-)

Nice to hear that I only have to buy the 10.5mm fisheye and not another port! :-)

Well, if anyone is interested, I found the info about the FP-120 here:

Have a nice weekend... al the best from Kim!

I use the 120mm port and i just love it....
this is one true hemisperical port that si small easy to use and resistence agains flares.
I use it wiht the 10,5mm and 16mm with a +1 diopter
All my photos are done with this port.

if i whant one day to make over nder photos i will get a big dome 170-230 but with this small beauty i am more that happy..
