Hi all -

Switching to a Canon 20D DSLR from prosumer; so new to the concept of ports/gears etc. Have the Ike housing, Canon 100 mm macro, and Sigma 15mm fisheye to start with. Thinking about getting the 17-85 ISM for general purpose topside use; so might want to get a port for it also to use for fish portraits.

My initial question is whether or not I should get the port for the 100 mm macro lens with or without the manual focus? With my old cameras, just did the half-press auto-focus, and moved housing in/out for fine focus. Heading for Lembeh in April, so will be shooting lots of small stuff (pygmy seahorses, small shrimp/crabs, etc). I also will probably get a teleconverter lens and woody diopter for more mag - I assume the teleconverter lens adds enough additional length to require yet another port?

Finally - if I decide to dive with the 17 - 85 zoom lens, does the port allow you to zoom the lens underwater if you use autofocus - seems like I read somewhere you can either have manual focus or zoom control, but not both.

I would go for the MF port, you can still AF in the MF port, but you can not MF in the regular port. Nice to try both and see which you prefer. I am more of an AF person, but others prefer MF. The only way to find out which you prefer is to try it.

Yes, a teleconverter(or a diopter) will require a longer port as there is not much spare room in the MF port. If you deside you like MF you will have to have Ikelite make a custom port if you want to be able to MF with the teleconverter on as no such port currently exists.

On the 20D, the sigma 15mm FE works great behind both the standard 6" port (#5503) and the new 8" dome.

The 17-85 requires the dedicated port (#5503.90). This port will allow you to zoom, but no you will not be able to MF.
