Full Version: Canon 5D and 1D mkII N firmware updates

Canon has released firmware updates for the 5D and 1D Mark II N. Here are the links:

Firmware update for Canon 5D
1. Fixes the phenomenon of large image files (1.7GB) being created.
2. Improves the brightness of the LCD monitor.
3. Fixes an operational abnormality in the AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing) shooting.
4. Fixes the mistakes in the Swedish-language MENU displays.

Firmware update for Canon 1D Mark II N
1. Fixes a file-numbering error that occurred during Bulb shooting.
2. Improves the brightness of the LCD monitor.
3. Fixes mistakes in the Russian-language MENU displays.

Never had any of thouse problems, but I guess I'll download it....

Users are reporting a massive improvement on LCD brightness, which should affect UW shooters. Let us know if you notice anything.

Ok, I installed it. I actually had to read the directions. sad.gif The upgrade procedure is not the same as it was with my old Rebel.

I made an effort to look at the brightness before and after. It might be obvious if you had two cameras to compare side to side but it is definately not "massively" brighter.

Actually was able to check side by side. Wifey and I work in the software industry and were wary to update both smile.gif

The screen brightness set in the center is now looking like what it looked like at the high setting.
The new dislay is definitely brighter although I wonder at what expense.... you just don't get sumthin' for nuthin'!
