... I am going to sell my Canon gear.

latest dpreview news entry ...

I assume F-mount means you can mount it on up to date Nikon cameras including AF and aperture transmission?

I sow also this news but...
Someone I know and trust his opinion (especially on optics) said that hewas quit disappointed from the Zeiss's lens on Sony cameras in the last couple of years.

F-mount means you can mount it on *any* Nikon camera (new and old, discontinued or not). Nikon is proud of saying that they never changed their F-mount. AI, AF, D, DX are a different matter.

The question is, does Zeiss have such a nicer quality to make you want to switch to Nikon? I don't see many problems with Nikon's (or even Canon's smile.gif ) current lens line up.

it's good that Carl Zeiss himself can't see what toy cams carry his name today because companies like Sony can simply buy it. I would not compare the real stuff from Zeiss with those handy-cams and tiny Sony toys :-)

Luiz,

well, I would like to see good wideangle primes. Sub 20mm range, Canon only has to offer a completely overpriced and poor 14mm lens ... . I know I have chosen the wrong brand for wideangle photography - I think Nikon offers better WA options. :-)

Sorry, forgot about the Canon WA limitations (relatively poor quality in FF, limited choices in cropped sensors). All I use are the 10.5 and 16 fisheyes, and I am pretty happy with them.

Luiz,
really Zeiss make a great glass, but where did you get this image ? Is it fake ? I didn't found any similar at the Zeiss website. The ZF on the folder means Zeiss Foto and not Zeiss F-mount.

Fabio, these banners leaked from the Zeiss website yesterday. The ZF does mean Zeiss F-mount. There are discussions about it in all photo forums. Check this topic at dpreview:

And this at a Contax forum:

Hi Luiz,
I saw some discussions at dpreview early today. I tried lot of times to click or reload the zeiss page looking for what is top secret, but the banner still the same. That's the reason I asked about the picture.

Best Regards
Fabio

Yes, it was one of the famous "unintentional leaks" that many companies seem to be doing lately. All the banners were online at the Zeiss' site yesterday, but today only the second is there. Apparently they will update the page with a new banner every week. This week's banner is the second from the bottom.

Canon users have to bite the bullet! Congratulations to Nikon users. I am excited to see what lenses will be released.

Thanks Luiz wink.gif

So what would be a Zeiss wishlist for lenses beside being a bit more relatively affordable! Prime wide angle lens, fixed macro lens with better mag than 1:1 without diopter at FF?
