I have a Ikelite 20 D housing and have the "old" straight style bulkhead connector. Before I spend $75 upgrading to the 90 degree bulkhead, I'm wondering if anyone out there has the new connector and if it seems to help reduce the stress on sync cords.

I can't tell from the literature, but my concern would be that if the bullhead happened to be a swiveling connection that it may not be that reliable, however if it is locked at a fixed direction to the side of the housing, then I'd think it would be reliable.

THe bulkhead is fixed, it does not swivel.

I have it and like it. It came with the upgrade for iTTL. I didn't think it would be a big deal as I had used the standard connector for about a year before I upgraded and had gotten used to it. But it turns out it is a big deal for me because I no longer have to teach deck hands how to lay my rig down. And it looks more professional too.

Thank you both for the information and help.

The swivel concern on bulkhead or plug is what took us so long.

The good news is we should have a Nikon D200 Thursday (12/15) to start testing iTTL and housing preferences. The bad news is the louses did not start molding big domes last Friday as promised. Week of the 19th of some time is latest bull.

Ike, Is it possible/recommended to replace the bulkhead by myself or the housing need to travel to the states (without me wink.gif ) ? It's will take too much time for me to send all the way to you and back.

We are nervous about customer installation because of wiring/soldering requirments, and several models require moving the bulkhead which means a new back, etc.

Ike,

You shouldn't have told anyone here at Wetpixel that you will be getting a D200 on 12/15. Now not-only will they be wanting a housing on the 16th, but many folks here know your address and may try to make a "midnight requisition." LOL!

Cheers
James
