Ok - I thought I was set on the 10.5mm nikkor lens, but now am wondering if it will be TOO specialized to not really be used other than underwater...

So I am wondering which lens to go with - I will be shooting as well above water and when I worked as a photojournalist, I used my 24mm lens along with my 85 extensively...

The 18-70 that comes with the D70's basically fits that arena, but with the conversion factor, the wide end only comes in at around 27mm..

But I want to be able to work with very wide underwater while freediving - I have heard going with the Nikkor 16FE or the Sigma 15 is an alternative. Having been a lens snob in the past, I have ALWAYS used OEM lenses when I was shooting as a pro, so I am apprehensive about going after market. How have the after market lenses faired in the new digital revolution?

Any comments on either of these 2 lenses when shooting digital and shooting both above and underwater?

Looks like next friday is the big day for spending money.. biggrin.gif

That's easy! Get the Sigma 15mm AND the Nikkor 10.5 The sigma lens is 'cheap' enough that if you can afford a D70setup, you can afford the sigma lens...lol

You need both lenses and I was on the same dilemma Nikon 16mm or Sigma 15mm but on the end I have decide to go with Nikon. Why?

Becauce off:
1. better glass
2. Its Nikon
3. I have buy it in Hong Kong with international Warranty for 50% of the price that i can get it in Sweden
4 and most!!!! important. The Sigma 15mm is not working with my port.

So before you deside check wich housing & wich port you whant to use.
