Hi
We decided to buy a Canon 350D, now comes the housing. Sealux don't make one Subal ist to expensive. So we are looking at Mediasub/Bruder KF3 Digital thats made from Carbon fibre or UK Germany which is Alu and last but not least Ikelite.
Has anybody tips especially about Mediasub/Bruder KF3 it looks like a nice design, but what about Carbon Fibre??.
Thanks
Elli and Ted

Hi Elli and Ted,
Remember, the ikelite supports TTL (with Ikelite DS strobes), the others don't. Sea&Sea has an interesting housing for this camera too, and aparently it will also support TTL. Look here:
http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10250And here:
http://wetpixel.com/i.php/full/sea-and-sea...for-canon-350d/Sorry, I don't know much about the other brands.

you might want to have a look at the following thread to read some words about Bruder/mediasub housings and to see some pics of a Bruder 300D housing:

I've gone the Ikelite route and find the eTTL is superb.
The DS125 has a fantastic recylce time which is also great.

"last but not least Ikelite" may elicit one of those "unbiased" opinions by crazy ike.

The first few units of the Sea & Sea DX-350d housing that shipped in Japan did not have TTL conversion circuitry included. It certainly will be a nicely sized housing, though.
I have not recieved a single complaint from any Ikelite Rebel XT customer, it is one of Ikelite's finest installations.

Is TTL going to be included in the S&S housing in the future?

Thanks everybody, looks as if we are going for UK Germany, the firm is just around the corner from us.
Would have loved a Sealux, they should open their eyes and see how may 350d`s are being sold they could make a fortune. With Bruder thats a different story, its a shame really. once again Thanks

And why exactly do you guys feel like that? There are not many users of the UK Germany or Bruder housings (not any that I know) for the 350D, and the Sea&Sea is not out yet, that's why there are no user reports, and probably why most people that contributed to this topic were industry members.

For good reasons wetpixel classifies industry members in this board allowing every user an intelligible and straight forward view on statements from the industry. It’s up to every single manufactures to participate here or not.

if you have the feeling that this Forum is directed so you are right. but it is directed by photographers.
That manufactures have there opinion on wetpixel mean not that they rule the forum...
normaly UW photographers anre inteligent people.. they can think but the own and if a company try to take ower wetpixel.. be sure that we are her to protect it.

My first meaningful digital SLR housing was from UK - Germany for the 300D.
It was one of the best finished products that I have ever had the pleasure to use. Even the inside of the housing was flocked ( like SEACAM ) to avoid moisture issues from small floods etc, Uwe has always been helpful for serious folk , particularly when you just have to have one - NOW !!!
They would do better in the western ( english speaking ) world with a little more english skill/ western acumen and a much kinder exchange on the Euro.
We must take our hat's off and salute to the small manufacturers that are always there.
Again my fifty cents , must go there is another bottle of wine heading this way

"Brandon" and "Henry":
You are, of course, welcome to have any opinion you want to have.
Wetpixel is an organic community, and we don't censor anything nor direct content, unless people begin to be uncivil or blatantly commercial.
Also, I'd like to remind you publicly that creating a second account in order to make it look like there is more support for your opinion is very tacky. The last time an industry member did it, there were far-reaching repercussions outside of our humble board here. Remember that it is a small community.

Having just ordered 2 UK-Germany Housings for the Canon 5D I certainly appreciate that the Manufacturers have a place here.
It is really important for there to be a place where the mfgs can have their opinions and defend their products. In the US we have this News organization that touts "Fair and Balanced" reporting. Pretty funny actually since they cleraly have a conservative bent, but at least the concept is sound.
I love having the reps here and I'm really glad they are both identified and encouraged to participate.
Look forward to my review of the new UK-Germany housing!

But seriously -- the "global, tiny community" thing amazes me all the time. It's really fantastic...

I think that they are not enough reps at Wetpixel!!!!
Serious I love to have reps from every major company in Wetpixel
Reps that are here with us and discuss all the issues.
In long terms we will benefit from this in form off better housings Domes Strobes etc..
Like Eric say. This is a tiny community, "band off brothers".
We pay a lot of money to have the cameras underwater, sometimes are times oveprised like many know.
Let the reps fight for us in therms off better servie better equikment and better prices.
If they whant to push a product via Wetpixel. let them doit. On the end we customers deside in wich way we will go..

Brad Lally from Sea and Sea USA sometimes participates here and I KNOW he reads our forums.

Unfortunately, Brad Lally is no longer with Sea & Sea, he has accepted a position with Scubapro.
I know the Japanese manufacturers read, but they don't participate.

Let me tell you about censoring. Eric has to watch awful ike and censor his use of curse words to maintain dignity on this forum. Shame that a nice company has such a louse installed in a prominent place when all of the other Ikelite people are super.

Dec 20 2005, 11:34 AM
Ike - We do have a volunteer moderation staff here now, and they are much better about keeping things civil.

Re: louse installation
Ikelite just wouldn't be the same without it...

I use the Ike housing and have had great luck with it and my XT. It can take quite a bit of abuse as well, It got bumped around more than once in the heavy currents in Palau. I love the DS-125's too. Fast recycle time and fast charge time.
