I've just bought the ikelite housing for my Canon 20D + ikelite ds-125 sub strobe

The lens I'm going to use is the wide angle 10-22 Canon.

Can you give me advices on how to shoot underwater with this equipment ??

First of all, should I use AUTO or MANUAL settings ??

Thanx
Rocha
Hi,

First of all, get close to your subject. Then, get even closer. Try taking pictures in aperture priotity TTL mode first, if you are not satisfied with the results try manual.

Remember to post your first shots so that we can see where you got it right!

If I shoot in AP what Aperture value should I set ??
A friend of mine suggested to use full manual with at least 1/125 F8 because the eTTL2 will do the rest. Is it correct ??

Well, yes and no. eTTL will take care of your main subject, but not of the rest of the picture (surrounding blue water). You don't need to go that fast with wide angle lenses, 1/60 is fine depending on depth and visibility. When you put in AP and connect a flash the speed automatically goes to 1/60, then you should try varying the aperture between say 5.6 and 11 depending on how much ambient light you want in the picture. If there is too much ambient light at f11 switch to manual and use faster speeds.

Now, if the sun is in the picture, the whole thing is very different, and you should go as fast as your camera can sync with the flash (1/250). For suggestions about sunbursts look here:
