I know there are a lot of people out there shooting with D70's. I'm wondering if there is anyone shooting with the D50. I'm considering it as a good way to enter the world of shooting underwater with a dSLR and know that people who shoot with it topside seem to love it. I'm wondering if the missing features (from the d70s) would make a difference u/w. I guess another way of asking this (as the ikelite housing hasn't been out that long so there may not be too many people using the d50 u/w) is what features do you have on your d70's that you would miss u/w?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Keith

I don't know the D50 but from the specs its seems that the two command dials that I have in the D70 Vs. the only one in the D50 is the most missing feature.

It is also worth considering the package price. Once you have bought a housing, lenses, ports, strobes, strobe arms, synch cords etc the saving of getting a D50 over a D70 is a much smaller percentage.

With the D50 selling for $550 online, it's a very attractive camera. As the price edges even lower, many more consumers will be buying them. It won't be long before Fantasa, 10bar and a few others have budget options available.

On another note, there are lots of used D70 cameras out there too.

Fantasea already has a housing advertisement for a D50 housing. I think I just saw it in a magazine.

In the pros side of the D50 vs. the D70s according dpreview:
Improved auto focus .
Noise and Moiré artifacts are less.
Improve rendition of highlight detail.

Still I'll stay with the D70/s smile.gif
