I've been using my D2X for a while now and think I know it a little by now, yesterday at home I was practicing manual white balance as I was going to try the magic filter over the next couple of days. But the weather did not allow that so the next day I used my 10.5 set things up and did a quick test shot. Jumped into the water and every images was coming out very very dark, I checked my manual settings, they were fine, checked to make sure it was not still in manual white balance, it was not, it was auto. ISO 200, which it is all the time for me. So I reset the setting underwater and still very very dark pics, strobes were firing but still without them I was a low as 2.8 and a shutter of 1/100th and still the same but not quite as bad.

Like I have said I have dove with it at least 60-70 times but this is the first time I have had this happen. So when I get home I take it out, change lens but still the same, changed another lens, still the same.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to try?

Thanks
Rocha
Hi Patrick,

Try this:

1) Hold WB and ISO buttons down together for more than 2 seconds. This will reset camera settings.

2) In the custom settings menu, highlight "Reset CSM Menu" and then select "Yes". This will restore default settings for the current custom settings bank.

Let us know if this helps.

Thanks, the first thing I did when I had the problem was to reset both the above underwater, but still had the same probelm, today after swapping out several lens and going to the camera shop where I bought it, the problems seesm to have gone, I'll take it in the water later today and see if it's ok. Thanks.

Hi Patrick,

Hope it is OK now. Doesn't sound good. Especially as the problem occured with lots of different settings and with different lenses.

Do you have any of the dark shots? Maybe you could post one so that we could have a look through the EXIF to see if there are any clues in there?

No images as I formatted the card underwater as a part of me trying to find the problem. I went diving yesterday with it and all was good, just hope it does not happen again.

Hope so too. Have you done done the firmware update yet?

Did the firm up date, any way it turned out to be the 28-70 lens, it looks fine but it has a problem somewhere. I used the 16MM today and the camera was great, switched to the 28-70 and bang dark images, lucky it still has warrenty so I'll send it back.
