Anyone use or think the Nikon 17-55mm DX 2.8 lens would be a good lens for sharks and wide angle work? thanks?

Should be good for sharks and big fish, but not wide enough for reefscapes and such. I have one and plan to house it soon, mainly for the big stuff and sharks. For the wide angle work I use the 10.5.
Now, talk about quality, this is the best lens (and most expensive one) I've ever used. Very sharp at all focal lengths, great color.

I have to agree, the 17-55 is the sharpest lens that I have ever used. Last weekend, we did some team and individual basketball shots and there were some 20X30 ordered. The texture on the basketball was unbeliveable at 20X30 poster. TACK SAHRP..

December 05, Popular Photography has a test for this lens against the Nikon "kit" type lenses in the same zoom range.
