Headed to Provo next month. Will be diving only West Caicos and French Key. Have 60mm and 10.5 fe. Never shot with the 10.5 fe as just purchased. I'll want to shoot mostly WA. Should I look for something in the middle of the road for the shark action or will I be OK with the 10.5? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gianni

It is going to be hard to get sharks with the 10.5, unless it is a shark feeding spot and they are coming very close. The 16 fisheye is a great lens and works like a 20mm in a dSLR, giving you more magnification. I think this would be a better choice for sharks.

Apart from the sharks, I would go with the 10.5mm and 105mm. I find that these two are the most suited to Cayman, where I dive a lot and is pretty similar.

Anyone have any info on the weather down there? I'm planning to leave for TCI on Saturday but it looks like rain and wind. Are the boats still going out?

As for me I'll be bringing the 10.5, 15mm FE, 12-24mm, 60 mm and the 105mm. I want to focus on macro mostly with the 105mm with and without a diopter. But I think the 12-24mm should work nicely for sharks. blink.gif

After this trip I'll be starting a 12-step program to reduce my lens selection. ....Oh after I get the 70-200 VR and new 18-200 VR. smile.gif

The weather here in the Turks & Caicos has been a little wierd for the last few weeks. I was taking photos today at Provo and the weather was great the only bad thing is that the corals at bleching more than I have seen before.
I normally use 105mm for macro and 16mm for wide angle but 10.5DX will be a great lense for the walls and the 60mm to for fish portraits, I don't have these lenses but there on my wish list biggrin.gif
Are you going to be diving in Provo? let me know if you need any more information about the Turks & Caicos and I will be happy to help you out.

Thanks Karl. Saw those shots on your website which is very very nice by the way, unbelievable photos. I was in the T&Cs 2 years ago but with an oly 5050 no strobes and now have a better setup w/ the D70 and dual DS125s so I am excited to return. I think I'll bring the 60m and purchase a woodys D for macro, the 10.5 for experimenting, and am contiplating on purchasing a 16m to use if the sharks look too far away with the 10.5. Will post some pics when I get back. And then probably purchase a 105m as per Alex's recommendations then some diopters then a 12-24 for better shark pics and then a D200 and then...........God I have a problem.
