Image Makers: Help the Oceans on 9 June
On 9 June, Motion for the Ocean will send one global simple, clear message to policy makers: Oceans are Important. Wetpixel has partnered with the Sea Save Foundation to allow the global underwater image making community the opportunity to raise its collective voice in support of this. Please post one of your images or videos onto the social media outlet of your choice on 9 June with the following hashtags:#M4O #MotionFortheOcean #SeaSaveTweet #PlasticPollutionCoalition. These will allow the imagery to be aggregated and presented to those in power.

Sea Save offers tool to register protest at US oil drilling plan
The Sea Save Foundation has posted a simple tool that allows individuals to register their protest at the Administration’s plans to offer 47 leases to global energy companies to explore and drill in US coastal waters in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as the Arctic, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans. The annual Sea Save Auction is now in full swing. Over 60 ocean related items, diving packages, and trips are up for bidding on the Sea Save website. Sea Save Foundation is a non-profit based in Malibu, California that seeks to influence local, national, and international policy in ocean-friendly ways.

Get Your Fin on for Sharks
The Sea Save Foundation is making an urgent appeal for people to submit images of themselves “giving the fin”. The images will be incorporated into a digital artwork mosaic of 20,000 images of people worldwide expressing their support for shark conservation. This will be presented to delegates at the CITES conference in September, in order to pressurize that body to enhance the global protection of shark species.
Give ‘Em the Fin this week
Sea Save are running a campaign encouraging people to give shark finning “the fin”. This asks people to upload images of themselves with a hand raised above their heads to a global mosaic on the Sea Save site. This will then go to the CITES congress in South Africa in September as an expression of public support for the protection of sharks.
