Sony announces the a7II

Sony Japan has announced the release of the a7II mirrorless camera. Initially only available in Japan, the new camera features a 24.3 million pixels 35mm full size “Exmor” CMOS sensor and 5 axis image stabilization. This offers up to 4,5 stops of correction (in video up to 5 stops) and shake correction can be checked in Live View. Perhaps more critically, Sony claims the AF is 30% faster and that subject acquisition and motion tracking performance are better than that of the previous models.

The body has been changed, with a repositioned shutter release and deeper grip, so housing compatibility may be limited.

The new model is initially only available in Japan from 5 December, but is expected to be sold into other markets soon. Japanese price is 190,000 yen (current conversion: 1300 Euro or $1,600).
