Show Coverage: DEMA 2016

The Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) plays host to the world’s diving trade at an annual show. It is held alternately in Las Vegas, and Orlando. 2016’s show is being held in Las Vegas. Amongst the many exhibitors, there is an area known as the Imaging Resource Center (IRC). This consists of a lecture area, where eminent underwater image makers present talks and booths representing almost all the major suppliers of underwater imaging equipment.

As the DEMA Show is a “trade only” event, many manufacturers chose it as the time to release new models. In addition, it is a huge social gathering, with people from all over the world getting together to talk about plans, ideas and developments.

Wetpixel traditionally co-hosts a party during the show with DivePhotoGuide. It is often remarked that this probably comprises the single largest gathering of underwater image makers in the world.

Ideally, the whole Wetpixel community would be able to attend (and many do), but for those of you that cannot, Adam Hanlon, Abi Mullens and Drew Wohl (together with a guest appearance by Eric Cheng) plan to bring the show to you. We will be reporting from the show every day, so please keep checking back for updates. If you are at the show and see us wandering around, please come over and say hi!

We are also posting during the day onto our Wetpixelgram Instagram feed. If you don’t already follow it, now would be a great time to do so.
