San Diego Undersea Film Exhibition

San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition

Dear Underwater FilmMaker,

We are pleased to announce the 6th Annual San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings, October 14th & 15th, 2005 at the state-of-the-art, large-format digital theater at the San Diego Natural History Museum in Balboa Park. Last year’s UnderSea Film Exhibition was an overwhelming success and we hope this year’s will be even better.

Each evening will feature a different program consisting of 14 to 16 short films by both accomplished professional and aspiring amateur underwater filmmakers.

To enter a film, edit a presentation and submit it to us so that it is RECEIVED no later than July 1, 2005. Submissions are limited to three films/videos per filmmaker. However, only two films will be presented by any one filmmaker.

Films may contain a suitable narrative and/or musical soundtrack. No film can be longer than five minutes, and at least 50% of the footage must be underwater. Please ensure that no part of your film infringes upon any rights, whether music, visual footage, personal, copyright, or any other legal right.

We are accepting only mini-DV NTSC tapes. Please submit a master copy, as these will be the show tapes. Please leave a 10-15 sec. blank leader at the beginning of your submissions. More than one film may be entered on a tape. If you have questions regarding the submission, feel free to contact us. To have tapes returned after the Film Exhibition, please include a proper sized, self-addressed, stamped envelope with proper postage. The San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition is not responsible for lost or damaged tapes.

Film selection will be made by August 15th by our judges, who are renowned in the fields of visual arts and media. No entrant will be allowed to participate in the actual judging of the films/videos submitted for consideration. Filmmakers whose work is selected are encouraged to introduce their film(s) in person on the night of the show. All submissions are welcome regardless of whether they have won previous competitions or not.

Please include your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, film’s name and length, and a brief bio with your film submission(s).

The San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition reserves the right to use the films for the promotion of this event. All rights will remain with the owners of the films.

You’ll find more information, as well as excerpts from previous years’ exhibitions, on our website at http://sdufex.com.
