Light & Motion expands camera support for Stingray HD video housing

Press Release

March 10, 2008, Monterey, CA— Light & Motion is excited to announce that its Stingray HD video housing will ship March 21st — the same date as the new Sony Camcorders. Compatible cameras include the highly anticipated SR11 and SR12 models.  Available in North America on March 21st, the Sony HDR-SR11 and HDR-SR12 cameras “deliver an incredible, Full HD 1920 x 1080 high definition video package built around an internal…hard disk drive,” according to the Sony USA website.

“These new Sony cameras are filled with cutting-edge technology,” says Daniel Emerson, Light & Motion’s CEO. “The move to solid-state media is every bit as important as the move to High-Definition video.  With full 10-pin compatibility between Sony’s new line of Camcorders and Light & Motion video housings, we are uniquely positioned to offer our customers both ease of use and full-function camera control—all in one forward-compatible package.”

“Light & Motion is demonstrating its leadership of the enthusiast video market with timely support of Sony’s new flagship camera,” says Paul Barnett, Sales Manager for Light & Motion. “One of Light & Motion’s key strengths is our ease-of-use and compact size.  We have improved the Stingray HD housing further with the addition of a built-in 3.5” high resolution monitor back 10-pin compatibility.”

A complete list of cameras supported by the Stingray HD can be found on Light & Motion’s website at: http://www.uwimaging.com/support/compatability/stingray_hd.htm.

About The Stingray HD Housing

The Stingray HD ($1,999) has been carefully engineered with the primary goal of making it easy to use for both new and experienced videographers.  It is a robust, precision-machined aluminum housing with double o-ring seals.  It features non-penetrating electronic controls that eliminate the risk of housing leaks typical with mechanical through-hole designs.  The standard 3.5” high-resolution monitor back gives an easy view of what you’re shooting.  Our modular camera trays allow the Stingray HD housing to adapt to nearly the entire line of old and new Sony HD video cameras (16 models and counting) while supporting Light & Motion’s high quality optics. The Stingray HD will hold its value as it allows the user to upgrade, supporting many future Sony cameras with just a camera tray switch.
