Kona Honu Divers

The Kona Classic is a week long video/photo festival hosted here on the Kona Coast of the “Big Island” of Hawaii. This is the sixth annual event and the dates are May 5-12, 2007. The dive package includes 9 dives and access to one or more photo pros during each charter. The dives are done on (4) two-tank morning charters and (1) one-tank night charter, which is the world famous Manta Ray Night Dive. During each of the charters, one or more photo pros will be aboard to coach your aspiring photographer(s). The charters will be aboard our 46’ custom Newton dive boat, which along with all the usual amenities (showers, marine toilet, ...) features photo tables, rinse buckets for your diver’s underwater photographic gear, and a large shaded dry area.

As an operator, Kona Honu Divers has received excellent reviews in publications ranging from Undercurrents’ annual chapbook to the most widely read travel guide for our island, “The Big Island Revealed”. We recently received best “Overall” and best “Value” ratings in the October ‘06 Scuba Diving Magazine Reader Ratings. The difference in the cost of one of our “standard” dive packages and this Kona Classic package is inclusion of a photo pro mentor aboard each and every trip. This is a week long working seminar where your divers will be honing their skills and not just an opportunity to log nine more dives.

This package is the diving portion of the photo festival plus event registration. The event registration includes the welcome reception (pupus and beverages), photo review sessions and seminars, prize eligibility, and the awards dinner. Accommodations, transportation including air fare are not included in this cost. Rental gear (BCD, regulator w/computer, and wet-suit) are not included. The cost for rental gear is $7.50 per piece or $20 for the entire set. This cost is per charter.
