Giant Squid washes ashore in Cantabria, Spain

An elusive Giant Squid washed ashore in Cantabria, Spain on La Arena Beach on 1 October. The specimen is believed to be an Architeuthis dux, and is not only the largest of all the squid, but also the largest of all invertebrates.

The squid is over 30 feet long and weighed an impressive 400 pounds. The Maritime Museum of Cantabria is currently holding the specimen.
