1st INTERNATIONAL UNDERWATER IMAGE FESTIVAL (FIIS) OCEANOGRÁFICO Valencia, Spain

The Oceanogràfico of Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, in keeping with its aim to promote the conservation of the marine world, presents the 1st International Underwater Image Festival (Festival internacional de Imagen Submarina, “FIIS”), which will be held on its premises from 7th to the 11th of May.

During the five days of the Festival the Red Sea Auditorium will become a large projection hall, opening its doors to the underwater world. We will show the best documentaries chosen from all those that are presented. Together with these documentaries, the best photographs received will be exhibited throughout the park.

 

Parallel to this, and in collaboration with prestigious professionals from the world of underwater exploration and filming, various lectures, round tables, and workshops will be held. Some of them are Leandro Blanco, Juan Antonio Romero, Andy Byatt, Roberto Rinaldi, Juan José Bueno, Manu San Félix, Francisco Candela, Juan Carlos García y Michael Aw.

 

The Festival is aimed at all video subs, photo subs, video-artists, video producers, cinema producers, TV producers, TV channels, photographers, production companies, diving clubs, schools, and the general public. There will be a commercial exhibition that related companies of underwater world will have the opportunity to present its specialized offer to the general public.

 

Cinesub, Internacional Underwater short film, elaborated by Rafa González and Maite Sánchez-Girón, held in previous editions in Madrid now joint to the FIIS of the Oceanográfico in Valencia. From Thursday 8th until the Sunday 11th of may and during approximate an hour and a half daily, it will be presented films awarded in other national and international prestigious Festivals. These films are related to the underwater world and its habitants, the protection of the environment and maintenance of the weak marine ecosystems; all the films will be spoken in Spanish.
