MANTA NETWORK #1806
October 23, 2008 - 3:05 PM

The Manta Network and Ocean Presence Technologies have teamed up to begin placing OceanCams, fixed underwater video camera systems, at manta feeding stations around the world, and allowing classrooms to control the cameras over the internet for educational purposes.

With various camera models, from the AquariCam with a maximum depth of 65ft to the Deep Fiber with a maximum depth of 490ft, the Ocean Presence products can connect over a built-in web server via Ethernet, fiber-optic, or wireless, and can pan from -170deg to 170deg and tilt from -90deg to 30deg. Recently tested accessories include remotely activated underwater lights to attract plankton and mantas at night. Money from all camera sales, whether for ocean or aquarium application, is donated to support the Manta Network.
