LIGHT & MOTION #3129
October 22, 2008 - 2:48 PM

Light & Motion had a few new products at their booth, including the new Bluefin2 underwater housing for Sony SR11 and SR12 cameras, Fathom Optics 90° and 110° lenses, and what they are calling a “GAS” adapter, which is a L&M battery pod mounting plate for Gates, Amphibico and Seatool housings.

The Bluefin2 underwater housing brings features from the higher-end Bluefin HD housing down into the compact camcorder housing line. It will be sold alongside the original Bluefin housing, and features a few improvements:

1. has beautiful 3.2” OLED monitor on back of housing (huge improvement)
2. ships with a flat port
3. has 2 flip filters (red filter and macro filter—43mm screw-in)

The Bluefin2 costs $700 more than does the standard Bluefin.

All Light & Motion housings now feature new knob designs, which are larger and star-shaped for easier manipulation.

Fathoms Optics lenses are now available on Light & Motion housings. Both 90° and 110° lenses feature full zoom through, no vignetting, and an effective anti-glare coating.

The GAS adapter is a battery pod mounting plate for Gates, Amphibico and Seatool housings. At the moment, there is no mount for light arms (on many camera housings, you just mount them on the housing itself), but L&M will be shipping an optional crossbar for mounting their locline light arms.

Also on display were older housings and the Sunray series of underwater video lights (including the Sunray 2000 LED lighting system introduced last year).
