Canon UK and WWF “Freeze Frame…Living on Thin Ice” lecture

News Release
Canon is hosting the “Living on Thin Ice” lecture to support WWF’s climate change work and raise awareness of the plight of the polar bear.

To mark its 10-year anniversary as Conservation Partner to WWF, and promote its Pan-European support of the Polar Bear Tracker website, Canon has organised an exclusive lecture “Freeze Frame…Living on Thin Ice” to raise awareness of the plight of the polar bear and the impact climate change is having on its fragile habitat.

“Freeze Frame…Living on Thin Ice” will be held at the BFI IMAX in London on Wednesday 24th September 2008. It will feature Doug Allan and Sue Flood; specialist polar region wildlife filmmakers and photographers and contributors to The BBC Blue Planet and Planet Earth Series.

The lecture will provide an opportunity to view unique footage of life in the Arctic and see raw, up-close and personal videos and images of the polar bear, taken by Doug and Sue. Attendees will also hear first hand from Doug and Sue about the effects of climate change on the plight of the polar bear and be given the opportunity to ask them about their experiences and the challenges they faced taking images in such an environment. You will also hear WWF’s Emily Lewis-Brown talk about how WWF is tackling the impact of climate change on the oceans, particularly in the Arctic.

All proceeds raised through ticket sales will be donated to WWF to further support their climate change work.
