3rd Annual North Carolina Wreck•Shark Shootout 2016

June 2-5, 2016

The North Carolina Wreck•Shark Shootout, which is hosted by professional photographer Mike Gerken at Olympus Dive Center, is a photo/video contest where the objective is to dive on the best wrecks with the most sharks and submit photos and videos for an opportunity to win some amazing prizes. The wrecks of the Outer Banks of North Carolina are notorious for producing some fantastic shark dives with the ever present sand tiger (Carcharias taurus) as the star attraction. When your looking for this prominent shark, it is usually not hard to find them. They are known to aggregate on many of the wrecks there. From a photography and video point of view, the sand tiger wreck combo makes for great photo opportunities.

Mike Gerken has been diving extensively with sand tigers for more than 12 years. Please join him for this 3rd Annual event where Mike will use all of his knowledge to put you on the sharks. Sample prizes are 7 night 5 day dive package with Sam’s Tours and Unique Dive Expeditions in Palau as well as a 8 day 7 night liveaboard trip on the Explorer Ventures Caribbean Explorer II. Please visit the events page for complete information including, packages, rules, sample photos and a list of sponsors with prizes.
